Arbor View Senior Living is seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Medication Administration Specialist to join our team. As a key member of our care staff, you will play a vital role in ensuring the health and well-being of our residents.
Key Responsibilities
- Medication Administration: Prepare and administer medications to residents under the direction and supervision of a registered nurse or a licensed practical/vocational nurse.
- Verification and Documentation: Verify the identity of the resident receiving medication and record the name of the drug, dosage, and time of administration on specified forms or records.
- Consultation and Decision-Making: Clarify any order or treatment regimen believed to be inaccurate, ineffective, or contraindicated by consulting with the appropriate licensed practitioner. Notify the supervisor when making the decision not to administer.
- Vital Signs and Medication Management: Take and record vital signs upon administration of medications when required. Order and re-order medications and return all discharge medications for credit in compliance with federal and state regulations.
- Medication Room Maintenance: Maintain a neat, clean, and orderly medication room and cart. Take appropriate precautions to ensure residents/patients do not have access to medications other than those prescribed.
- Administrative Tasks: Complete required forms and documents in accordance with the company policy and state and/or federal regulations.
Requirements
- Education and Training: Minimum high school diploma or equivalent, or experience as required by state regulations.
- Certification and Approval: Successful completion of a state-approved course and approval to administer oral and external medication.
