Job Summary

As a Physician with the Division of Hospital Medicine at the University of Wisconsin Madison, you will provide comprehensive, patient-centered care for the diagnosis and treatment of acute and chronic illnesses at our practice sites. You will also have the opportunity to grow the next generation of physicians through hands-on instruction of residents, fellows, and medical students.

Our Division prides itself on building a team of empathetic and collaborative physicians who are dedicated to improving the field of Hospital Medicine through clinical and scholarly endeavors. Successful candidates will demonstrate not only their comprehensive clinical knowledge, but their ability to build trusting relationships with patients from diverse backgrounds and lived experiences.

Responsibilities

  1. Provide clinical patient care, admitting and managing hospital inpatients.
  2. Provide medical consultation within the hospital.
  3. Teach residents, medical students, fellows in relation to patients on the hospitalist service.
  4. Participate in system-wide quality improvement projects at UW Health approved locations.

Requirements

  • Terminal Degree (MD, DO, or equivalent).
  • Previous experience working in the inpatient setting, preferably at a tertiary care center.
  • Excellent attention to detail.
  • Ability to balance multiple, often competing priorities.
  • Ability to collaborate on a multidisciplinary team.
  • Excellent communication skills with an emphasis on patient empathy.

Appointment Information

This position has been identified as a position of trust with access to vulnerable populations. The selected candidate will be required to pass an initial caregiver check to be eligible for employment under the Wisconsin Caregiver Law and every four years.

This position has been identified as a position that will be located in or regularly access UW Health locations. This position will need to adhere to UW Health policies and affiliated requirements.

UW Health requires that anyone (all staff, faculty students, volunteers, and other affiliated individuals) working in or regularly accessing UW Health locations receive the COVID-19 primary vaccination series and first booster.
