Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled Ambulatory Care Specialist to join our team at UW Health. As an Ambulatory Care Specialist, you will play a vital role in providing high-quality, cost-effective care to patients in our ambulatory and inpatient settings.

Key Responsibilities

  • Work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary health team to provide comprehensive care to cancer patients in active treatment as well as patients with benign hematologic conditions in a primarily outpatient setting.
  • Provide new and follow-up appointments at both East Park Medical Center and Johnson Creek Cancer Clinic locations and other UW Health regional/outreach cancer clinics.
  • Provide inpatient coverage one week per month for hematology/oncology patients at Unity Point Health-Meriter Hospital by conducting history and physical examination (H&P) prior to admissions from clinic, and rounding on patients in consultative role.
  • Perform routine clinical procedures independently as outlined in practice agreements/scope of practice including, but not limited to, the following: bone marrow biopsies, lumbar puncture with intrathecal chemotherapy.

Requirements

  • Master's or Doctorate's degree from accredited Nursing Program (if Nurse Practitioner) or Bachelor's or Master's degree from accredited PA Program (if Physician Assistant).
  • Minimum - 1-3 years caring for hematology/medical oncology patients. Preferred - Experience with acute and ambulatory cancer patient care.
  • Licenses and Certifications: Minimum - State of Wisconsin NP or PA licensure. If Nurse Practitioner: Active RN and APRN certifications and licenses, including prescriptive authority, in state(s) of practice AND Active board certification as a NP in area of clinical practice. If Physician Assistant: Active PA license, including prescriptive authority, in state(s) of practice AND Active PA board certification.
