Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Radiologic Technologist to join our team at WVU Medicine. As a key member of our Radiology Department, you will be responsible for performing imaging and therapeutic services, as well as providing patient care and support.

Key Responsibilities
  • Rotates in all Diagnostic areas to develop technical skills and expertise.
  • Performs image procedures based on patient assessment, request, and imaging protocols, with periodic image evaluations and supervision.
  • Produces high-quality images using imaging equipment and systems, while minimizing radiation exposure.
  • Assesses patient needs and provides imaging-related care, including comfort, hygiene, and range of motion support.
  • Prepares contrast agents, pharmaceuticals, and sterile trays for imaging procedures.
  • Educates patients about radiographic procedures and answers questions.
  • Promotes a team approach to providing Radiology services, interacting positively with technical, support, nursing, and medical staff.
  • Engages in problem-solving, crisis management, and performance improvements to promote efficient, high-quality, and cost-effective patient care.
Requirements
  • Completion of an Accredited Radiography School.
  • Registration (or registry eligibility) by the ARRT in Radiography, with passing of boards within 6 months of hire.
  • Certification in Basic Life Support within 30 days of hire.
  • West Virginia state criminal background check required, and Federal, if applicable, for DHHR BMS regulated area.
Working Environment
  • Exposure to minimal radiation within national standards of occupational guidelines, monitored by Radiation Safety and use of dosimeter.
  • Exposure to airborne particles and bodily fluids.
  • Operation of imaging equipment with automated moving parts.
Skills and Abilities
  • Ability to interact positively with patients, families, and members of the Health Care Team.
  • Ability to prioritize and deal with a variety of situations simultaneously.
  • Ability to improvise with altered positioning techniques, manipulation of equipment, and accessory devices when routine positioning is compromised.
Additional Information

This position includes rotation of weekends, call, and holiday rotations, as well as evening and occasional night rotations. Scheduled weekly hours are 40, with a day shift schedule.
