Key Responsibilities- Enforce laws and regulations concerning animal care and treatment.
- Investigate reports of animal attacks or cruelty, interview witnesses, collect evidence, and prepare reports.
- Capture and remove stray, uncontrolled, or abused animals from undesirable conditions.
- Examine animals for injuries or malnutrition and arrange for necessary medical treatment.
- Remove captured animals from service vehicles and place them in shelter cages or enclosures.
- Prepare and complete reports and forms concerning daily activities.
- Assist municipalities and law enforcement agencies as requested.
- Testify as an expert witness in legal proceedings.
- Enjoy working with animals.
- Ability to remain patient in trying situations.
- Understanding of Animal Control procedures.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to read, comprehend, and explain state and local laws, regulations, and ordinances related to animal control.
- Ability to learn and recognize physical and behavioral characteristics of animals.
- Ability to learn and recognize signs of rabies and other common animal illnesses.
- Microsoft Office Suite proficiency.
- Experience with ShelterPro software.
- Ability to utilize map software and apps.
- Ability to stoop, squat, crawl, climb, and perform other physical duties as needed.
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds at a time.
- Ability to traverse uneven terrain in all types of weather.
