We are seeking a Financial Aid/Financial Services Manager for a remote temporary consulting role. This position offers a competitive hourly rate and is expected to last for several months.
The successful candidate will oversee the operations and customer service functions within the Finance Services Office and Financial Aid departments. Reporting directly to the Associate Vice President for Finance/Controller, this role requires close collaboration with the Director of Financial Aid and the Accounts Receivable/Accounts Payable Manager to ensure timely project deliverables.
Key Responsibilities:
- Monitor, review, and verify financial records and transactions for accuracy and compliance with internal policies and generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP).
- Prepare financial reports and statements, analyzing data for accuracy and identifying trends to make informed recommendations to management.
- Reconcile accounts within the financial system and resolve discrepancies, ensuring all documentation is available for audit purposes.
- Serve as a primary contact for funding agencies and internal customers regarding financial inquiries, providing necessary information and clarifications.
- Respond to student inquiries related to federal and private student loans, ensuring clear communication regarding loan processes and documentation.
- Establish and maintain effective working relationships within a diverse environment, fostering teamwork to deliver high-quality service.
- Be responsive to work-related communications outside of standard business hours, assisting students and families with loan-related questions.
- Develop and maintain a knowledge-based FAQ for student loan information on the company website.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Proven experience with accounting methods and procedures, particularly in financial reporting and tax compliance.
- Strong understanding of auditing practices and the ability to process tax documents.
- Familiarity with integrated financial software, preferably with experience in Ellucian ERP systems.
- Excellent problem-solving, decision-making, and analytical skills.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel.
- Knowledge of federal and private student loan processes, including certification and repayment.
- Ability to foster effective working relationships in a multicultural environment.
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or a related field.
- A minimum of 5 years of management experience in a business office setting, ideally within higher education or non-profit sectors.
