Maintenance Specialist

Job Summary

This position is responsible for assisting in routine preventive maintenance, janitorial services, and sanitation to ensure the physical condition of buildings does not deteriorate.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist the Facilities Assistant Director as needed with tasks such as standard upkeep of CSET's Visalia Navigation Center, including changing indoor and outdoor lights, pressure washing sidewalks and building walls, and replacing door knobs and installation of paper towel holders, soap dispensers, and like items.
  • Maintain a professional and safe work environment.
  • Coordinate the receipt and disposal of equipment to maximize utilization of equipment.
  • Perform other duties, including fulfillment of work schedules, adherence to attendance policies, and other applicable operating rules, policies, and procedures.
  • Respond to and complete requests for service from staff for all related items.
  • Respond to calls, emails, and other various forms of communication in a timely manner.

  • Ability to work independently as well as with others.
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
  • Ability to uphold company principles and practices to the highest degree and represent the agency in a professional manner.
  • Ability to interpret the application of policies, procedures, and standards to specific situations.
  • Knowledge of materials, methods, and common hand and power tools, such as hammers, hoists, saws, drills, and wrenches.
  • Ability to explain, demonstrate, and clarify to others the understanding of well-established principles, practices, policies, and procedures.
  • Ability to perform custodial/janitorial duties safely and efficiently.
  • Ability to perform building maintenance duties safely and efficiently.

The employee must occasionally lift 50-80 pounds and/or move up to 100 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision, and the ability to adjust focus.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee occasionally works near moving mechanical parts on in outside weather conditions. The employee is occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions, fumes, toxic or caustic chemicals.

The noise level in the work environment could be moderate to loud.
