Job Summary

The CT Scan Technologist is responsible for operating x-ray and CT equipment to produce high-quality radiographs and scans of designated body parts. This role requires collaboration with radiologists to prepare patients for diagnostic scans, adhering to radiology best practices and safety procedures.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Adjust x-ray equipment settings for each examination, positioning patients and determining optimal voltage, current, and exposure time.
  • Select appropriate CT protocols for each examination.
  • Screen patients for intravenous and/or oral contrast media administration, including review of blood results and allergic history.
  • Operate CT intravenous contrast injectors with physician supervision.
  • Position x-ray equipment at precise distances and angles to obtain clear and undistorted views, adjusting lead shields to protect unaffected body parts from radiation.
  • Repeat exposures from different angles as prescribed by physicians.
  • Prepare and administer barium salts or chemical mixtures for patient imaging.
  • Clean and maintain equipment, documenting radiological studies in electronic medical records.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of patient care appropriate to age groups, including neonates, pediatrics, adolescents, adults, and geriatrics.
Qualifications:
  • Prior diagnostic radiology experience with CT equipment required.
  • Graduate of an accredited AMA School of Radiology.
  • Licensed by the State of New York. BLS certification, AART registered or eligible.
