Veterans Affairs Custodian Supervisor

Job Summary
The California Department of Veterans Affairs is seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Custodian Supervisor to join our team at the Veterans Home of California - West Los Angeles. As a Custodian Supervisor, you will be responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the housekeeping department, ensuring the highest standards of cleanliness and maintenance are met.
Key Responsibilities
- Supervise and coordinate the work of custodial staff to ensure efficient and effective cleaning and maintenance of the facility.
- Develop and implement cleaning schedules and procedures to ensure the highest standards of cleanliness are met.
- Conduct regular inspections to identify areas for improvement and implement corrective actions.
- Collaborate with other departments to ensure seamless operations and effective communication.
- Provide training and guidance to custodial staff to ensure they have the necessary skills and knowledge to perform their duties effectively.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent required; associate's or bachelor's degree in a related field preferred.
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in a supervisory or leadership role in a custodial or maintenance setting.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with diverse groups of people.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team, with a strong focus on customer service and quality.
- Knowledge of cleaning and maintenance procedures, as well as safety protocols and regulations.
Working Conditions
Employees of the California Department of Veterans Affairs will be required to follow state or county public health guidelines and requirements enacted in accordance with infectious disease prevention and control.
Special Requirements
Successful completion of a live scan and a pre-employment physical (including drug testing for certain civil service classifications) will be required.
