Position Overview

Key Responsibilities

As a Clinical Laboratory Specialist, you will play a crucial role in supporting physicians and healthcare specialists by conducting a variety of tests on blood, tissue, and other bodily fluids. The results obtained from these tests are vital for diagnosing and treating patients effectively.

Primary Duties Include:

  • Executing routine, moderate, and complex laboratory diagnostic assessments.
  • Validating test outcomes and supplying physicians with essential data to identify the presence, extent, cause, and treatment of diseases.
  • Adhering to quality control protocols to ensure the precision and dependability of test results.
  • Conducting, documenting, and analyzing Quality Control procedures.
  • Overseeing, maintaining, and troubleshooting laboratory instruments and equipment.
  • Assisting in the training of new staff and students on laboratory equipment and testing methodologies.
  • Performing functions on both Laboratory Information Systems (LIS) and Hospital Information Systems (HIS).
  • Engaging in ongoing education to enhance expertise in relevant areas.
  • Contributing to inventory management.

Qualifications:

Applicants must possess one of the following:

  • An Associate's degree in Medical Laboratory Technology.
  • A minimum of 60 semester hours (including six hours of chemistry and six hours of biology) from an accredited college or university, along with successful completion of a medical lab technician program recognized by a national accreditation agency.
  • Completion of a 50-week U.S. military medical laboratory training course within the last ten years.
  • MLT Medical Laboratory Technician Certification or eligibility through a nationally recognized certification agency (preferably ASCP).
