Job Title: CEI Level II or Senior Inspector

Thompson Engineering is seeking a skilled Construction Engineering & Inspection (CEI) Inspector to join our team in Birmingham, AL. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for inspecting construction projects, documenting work performed by contractors, and providing support to Project and Construction Managers.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Conduct thorough inspections of construction sites to ensure compliance with project specifications and regulations.
  • Document and record inspection findings, including measurements and photographs.
  • Support Project/Construction Managers in preparing pay statements and maintaining project diaries.
  • Perform field tests on concrete, air content, slump, and asphalt temperatures in accordance with prescribed procedures and standards.
  • Verify and document adherence to environmental, traffic, and erosion control policies and regulations.
  • Maintain inspector diaries and document vehicle preventative maintenance and mileage reports.
Requirements:
  • High School Diploma, preferably with one year of engineering, science, or technology education or training, or up to 2 years of applicable experience.
  • One or more ALDOT, ACI, QCI, or other transportation-related certifications.
  • Ability to understand procedural manuals and execute work orders.
  • Attention to detail and ability to follow directions.
  • Valid driver's license and insurable driving record.
  • Must pass Health and Safety Training and Defensive Driving Courses upon hire.
  • May be required to use various pieces of equipment, such as Slump Cone, Air Meter, Measuring Wheel/Tape, Thermometer, etc.
  • Overtime may be required.
  • Travel may be required.
