Job Summary

The Financial Operations Director at Piston Automotive is responsible for directing financial activities for the organization by planning, directing, and coordinating all accounting operational functions. This includes managing the accumulation and consolidation of all financial data necessary for an accurate accounting of business results. The ideal candidate will have eight years of experience as a Controller and a Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field. Additionally, they should have experience interpreting financial reports and legal documents, as well as presenting information to various levels of management.

Key Responsibilities
  • Preparation of quarterly reforecast incorporating historical results and future assumptions.
  • Assessing current accounting operations, offering recommendations for improvement, and implementing new processes.
  • Preparation of work papers supporting the monthly close process and month-end balances.
  • Review and post receipts and payments to appropriate ledgers, spreadsheets, records, and databases.
  • Audits invoices against purchase orders, researches discrepancies, and approves for payment.
  • Provides advance warning of variances to most recent budget/forecast in a no-surprises manner.
  • Evaluating accounting and internal control systems.
  • Directs preparation of budgets, reviews budget proposals, and prepares necessary supporting documentation and justification.
  • Provides counsel and advice to peer management in an effort to optimize operational results.
  • Coordinates activities of external auditors.
  • Prepares reports required by regulatory agencies.
  • Acts as a close confidant to the Plant Manager of operations.
  • Hiring, training, and retaining competent accounting staff.

Requirements
  • Eight years of experience as a Controller.
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • Eight years of experience interpreting financial reports and legal documents.
  • A minimum of five years of experience presenting information to various levels of management.
  • Eight years of experience working with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry.
  • Eight years of experience applying concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
  • Must be able to regularly lift and/or move up to 15 pounds.

Preferred Skills/Qualifications
  • CPA, CMA preferred.
  • A minimum of six years of experience defining problems, collecting data, establishing facts, and drawing valid conclusions.
