Data Center Operations Specialist

Job Summary:
We are seeking a talented Data Center Operations Specialist to join our team at Oracle. This individual will be responsible for the installation, configuration, and maintenance of enterprise servers and cabling infrastructure in our data centers.
Key Responsibilities:
- Install and configure enterprise servers and cabling infrastructure
- Perform hardware break/fix replacement of Field Replaceable Units (FRUs)
- Install racks, including placing them in position, cabling, powering up, and handing off servers to internal provisioning teams
- Troubleshoot and resolve Telco connectivity issues
- Troubleshoot and replace network switch equipment
- Communicate with internal teams through a ticketing environment
- Document activities and build/modify Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs)
- Install, fix, and repair system power supplies and cabling
- Execute small projects independently and work with managers to plan and execute larger local projects
Requirements:
- Knowledge of server, storage, and network hardware
- Strong interest in learning new data center concepts
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to work a shift schedule (4 days a week, 10-hour shifts) including weekends and holidays
- 3+ years of experience working in an IT environment
- Experience solving problems on servers, networking devices, and IT equipment
- Inventory management experience, including ordering, receiving, and shipping server parts
- Ability to take on-call shifts and respond to critical events as needed
- Experience raising issues to senior onsite staff and management as needed
- Knowledge of IT hardware concepts, including RAID, SAN, SCIS, Linux/Unix, and GRUB
- Bonus: knowledge of trunk infrastructure
Preferred Qualifications:
- 2-year or 4-year degree or 3+ years of experience
- 1 year+ of experience in structured cabling (copper/fiber), testing of cables, cooling and electrical systems concepts in a data center
