Our founders established community-based cancer care to empower patients to fight cancer with the support of their loved ones nearby. Today, Texas Oncology treats a significant portion of Texans diagnosed with cancer each year, using advanced technology and research to provide superior care.


The Surgical Patient Engagement Coordinator plays a vital role in managing the new patient referral process, ensuring that all interactions are handled with care and professionalism.



Key Responsibilities:

Essential Duties and

Responsibilities:

1. Oversee and manage the new patient referral process in accordance with departmental standards.

2. Serve as the primary point of contact for patients, providing exceptional customer service to both patients and stakeholders.

3. Assess patient needs to prioritize and triage referrals effectively.

4. Handle phone inquiries, take messages, and respond to routine questions from patients, physicians, and clients.

5. Follow up proactively on outstanding medical records and test results from referring providers.

6. Collect and verify patient demographic, insurance, and referral information.

7. Register patient accounts in the practice management system accurately.

8. Conduct insurance benefit and eligibility investigations.

9. Communicate appointment details, including time, location, and necessary instructions to patients.

10. Distribute medical forms for completion prior to the initial visit.

11. Maintain and update physician schedules to ensure appropriate patient bookings.

12. Collaborate with the clinical team to accommodate scheduling requests.

13. Document and update patient records in designated systems to maintain accurate information.

14. Provide support to providers in resolving complex administrative issues.

15. Uphold strict confidentiality and adhere to all HIPAA regulations.

16. Perform additional duties as assigned.


Qualifications:

Minimum

Qualifications:

- High School diploma or equivalent required.


- A minimum of two (2) years of experience in revenue cycle management or patient access within the healthcare sector is preferred, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

- Familiarity with various practice management and electronic health record systems is advantageous.

- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Teams, Excel) is required.

- Knowledge of medical terminology and insurance verification processes is essential.

- Successful completion of onboarding courses and training within the first 45 days of employment is mandatory.
