Ophthalmic Care Specialist

Job Summary:
The Ophthalmic Care Specialist provides support to the physician with patient care in accordance with established methods and techniques while conforming to recognized standards.
Key Responsibilities:
- Participate in a culture of excellence within Ophthalmology LTD consistent with the content outlined in the Service and Behavioral Standards Caregiver document.
- Compile all chart and background information at the beginning of the day for the physician.
- Perform ocular screening examinations, auto refraction, K. Readings, visual acuity testing, and other required tests using various standardized means in order to prepare the physician with the information needed for the care of Ophthalmic patients.
- Assist in surgical procedures with the ability to prepare the patients for the physician's examinations.
- Stock and maintain inventory control of medicines and supplies.
Requirements:
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Current certification as a Certified Ophthalmic Assistant (COA), Certified Paraoptometric Assistant (CPOA), or Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) required.
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification or ability to complete BLS certification within 90 days of hire required.
