The Intelligent Systems Division at Southwest Research Institute is a leading developer of automated solutions for commercial and government clients in multiple domains, including transportation, manufacturing, medical prognostics, and communication standards.

Key Responsibilities
  • Contribute to building advanced capabilities, technologies, and solutions in the field of industrial robotics and automation that solve real-world challenges faced by our customers.
  • Support mechanical design, controls, and hardware integration on industrial robots, cobots, and automation control hardware.
  • Find new applications, industries, and clients for novel automation capabilities.
  • Collaborate with internal teams, external clients, and industry partners to communicate effectively and design, build, debug, and implement robotic and automation solutions.
  • Assist in preparing proposals and cost estimates, and interact with customers to promote new business and develop technical requirements.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's, Master's, or PhD in Robotics, Mechatronics Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or other robotics-related engineering degree.
  • Strong software skills, preferably in C++ or Python.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to work effectively in a team.
  • Robot Operating System (ROS) experience preferred.
  • A valid driver's license is required.
