Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced School Bus Driver to join our team at the Salt River Pima Maricopa Indian Community. As a key member of our transportation department, you will be responsible for safely transporting children to and from school and extracurricular activities.

Key Responsibilities
  • Drive a school bus on a daily pre-established route, ensuring the safety and well-being of all passengers.
  • Communicate effectively with students, parents, and personnel staff, providing a positive and supportive environment.
  • Coordinate with the Student Transportation Coordinator to manage changes in routes, duties, and new student passengers.
  • Ensure all students have departed the bus prior to departing the stop location, maintaining a safe and orderly environment.
  • Make sure assigned routes are on time, adhering to the schedule and ensuring the efficient operation of the transportation system.
  • Report and document any unruly behaviors to the appropriate personnel, maintaining a safe and respectful environment for all.
Requirements
  • A valid unrestricted Arizona Commercial Driver's License (CDL) with Passenger and School Bus endorsements.
  • A minimum of one year of experience in the class of vehicle operated.
  • Basic first aid and CPR certification.
  • A high school diploma or G.E.D. equivalent.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Knowledge of the Salt River Pima-Maricopa Indian Community and its culture.
  • Experience working with children of all ages.
  • Ability to interpret laws, rules, and regulations associated with the daily operation of a school bus.
