Job Summary:

We are seeking a skilled Laboratory Assistant to join our team as a Travel Group member. In this role, you will perform phases of laboratory testing procedures, including pre-analytic, analytic, and post-analytic phases up to and including C-level testing. You will comply with all regulatory protocols related to safety and lab testing, adhering to Standard Operating Procedures. Additionally, you will provide in-person and telephone customer service, documenting all activities, including basic data entry and printing.

Essential Responsibilities:
  • Specimen Processing: Process specimens for A, B, or C-level complexity testing procedure(s) as defined by the KFHPW laboratory system. Participate in Quality assurance procedures and activities. Perform specimen processing instrument maintenance and troubleshooting.
  • Computer Data Entry & Retrieval: Test accessioning, information lookup, and result transcribing.
  • Technical Resource: Help resolve problems and answer pre-analytical procedural questions. Serve as a frontline resource to the laboratory's customers. Assist in the review and updates of laboratory procedure manuals for your work area.
  • Other duties may include: Phlebotomy, C-level testing, performing EKGs.

Education:
  • High School Diploma or General Education Development (GED) required.
License, Certification, Registration:
  • Medical Assistant Certificate (Washington) within 6 months of hire or Medical Assistant Phlebotomist Certificate (Washington) within 6 months of hire.
  • Basic Life Support within 3 months of hire.
Additional Requirements:
  • Computer skills.
  • Communication.
  • Customer service and problem-solving skills.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Recent completion of a phlebotomy program or recent phlebotomy and clinical laboratory experience.
