Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled Food Service Worker to join our team at St. Charles County, MO. As a Food Service Worker, you will be responsible for preparing and serving meals to inmates/detainees, as well as maintaining the cleanliness and sanitation of the kitchen and food preparation equipment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Prepare and cook all meals for inmates on an assigned shift
  • Prepare or assist in the preparation of hot and cold meat and vegetable dishes, beverages, sandwiches, simple bakery items, and/or other similar food items, as appropriate to the position
  • Prepare drink mix containers and/or hot water containers for disbursement to housing units
  • Prepare sack meals for inmates leaving the facility
  • Review menu diet cards for preparing inmate special meals/snacks
  • Load and set up delivery carts with appropriate number of meal and special diet trays for disbursement to housing units
  • Maintain and ensure all security of food storage areas and sharp kitchen utensils
  • Maintain standards of sanitation and cleanliness - Clean and sanitize food preparation area and all equipment
  • Clean and maintain all work areas, including sweeping and mopping floors - Collect and place garbage and trash in designated containers as appropriate to the area of operation
  • Assist inmate workers in washing dinner trays and other kitchen equipment
  • Assist in receiving and storing food and supplies
  • Maintain knowledge of food preparation, presentation methods, techniques, and food safety procedures
  • Perform miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned
Requirements
  • General/technical high school diploma or GED equivalent
  • One (1) to three (3) years' experience - minimum one (1) year of food service experience preferred
  • Vocational training in food services preferred
  • Ability to occasionally lift, carry, push, or pull up to 50 lbs.
