Job Overview

POSITION SUMMARY:

HIAS is seeking a Refugee Sponsorship Program Coordinator to enhance the development of our Private Sponsorship of Refugees (PSR) initiative. This role is situated within the Resettlement & Integration department, which oversees all direct service programs for refugees in the United States. The Coordinator will report to the Senior Program Manager and will primarily focus on delivering customized training, support, and assistance to a designated group of private sponsor organizations (PSOs) as they facilitate the resettlement of refugees in their localities.

Note: This is a full-time, temporary position with a salary range of $55,000.00.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Act as a secondary contact for the Community Sponsorship Hub regarding private sponsor group assistance.
  • Serve as the main point of contact for approximately 25 private sponsor groups annually.
  • Develop and sustain relationships with assigned PSOs, ensuring clarity on their roles and responsibilities.
  • Offer personalized support and guidance on essential resettlement services.
  • Share best practices and advice on pre-arrival and post-arrival responsibilities with PSOs, assisting them in navigating various services such as housing, public benefits, education, employment, health care, legal aid, and cultural orientation.
  • Conduct regular check-ins with PSO representatives to address any issues that may arise.
  • Participate in and lead training sessions and informational meetings for prospective PSOs.
  • Respond promptly to inquiries from sponsors and potential sponsors.
  • Provide resources and training for individuals interested in becoming private sponsors.
  • Utilize materials created by Welcome Corps and HIAS to clarify refugee eligibility, sponsor requirements, and application procedures.
  • Assist in organizing Private Sponsor Groups for the PSO Council by coordinating with member organizations and subcommittee contacts.
  • Attend PSO Council meetings and subcommittee gatherings as required.
  • Represent HIAS at coordination meetings related to Welcome Corps and participate in consortium meetings.
  • Collaborate with the Latin American Programs team and partner organizations to facilitate the matching and data transfer of Humanitarian Parolees.
  • Review and adjudicate cases for Proof of Registration exemptions.
  • Monitor updates in review criteria and case eligibility guidelines through communication with the Community Sponsorship Hub.
  • Foster partnerships with Welcome Corps mobilization partners at both national and local levels.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS & REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience is required.
  • 2-3 years of direct experience in refugee resettlement, particularly in private sponsorship contexts.
  • Familiarity with Welcome Corps proof of registration review is advantageous.
  • Strong interpersonal and organizational skills, with an ability to provide constructive feedback.
  • Proficient in collecting, organizing, and analyzing substantial amounts of information with attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently while adapting to team needs.
  • Comfortable using various technology platforms.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong problem-solving abilities.
  • A collaborative team player who thrives in close-knit environments.
  • Passionate about the rights and dignity of refugees and immigrants.
  • Willingness to travel as necessary.
