Job Description

The Department of Small Animal Clinical Sciences at the Virginia-Maryland College of Veterinary Medicine invites applications for a full-time faculty clinical track position in Ophthalmology at the rank of Assistant or Associate Professor. The successful candidate will join a team of experienced ophthalmologists and contribute to the development of clinical skills, research, and scholarly activity.

Responsibilities
  • Lead a clinical ophthalmology service within the Veterinary Teaching Hospital, providing primary patient care and supervising clinical care delivered by students, interns, and residents.
  • Participate in consultations within the Veterinary Teaching Hospital and with outside referring veterinarians, and engage in continuing education programs of the College.
  • Teach didactic, laboratory, and small group clinical instruction in ophthalmology and related disciplines, with a focus on professional students and ophthalmology residents.
  • Contribute to the ophthalmology resident training program and engage in research activities, with opportunities for independent and collaborative creative scholarship.
Qualifications
  • DVM or equivalent foreign degree by the date of hire.
  • Completion of an approved American Board of Veterinary Ophthalmology (ABVO) residency program by the date of hire.
  • Eligibility to sit for the ABVO certification exam or board certification by the date of hire.
  • Eligibility for a Virginia faculty veterinary license by the date of hire.
