Job Title: Assistant/Associate Professor of Ophthalmology
Job Summary:
The Department of Small Animal Clinical Sciences at the Virginia-Maryland College of Veterinary Medicine invites applications for a full-time faculty clinical track position in Ophthalmology at the rank of Assistant or Associate Professor. The successful candidate will join a team of experienced ophthalmologists, residents, and technicians, and will be responsible for leading a clinical ophthalmology service within the Veterinary Teaching Hospital.
Responsibilities:
- Lead a clinical ophthalmology service within the Veterinary Teaching Hospital, involving both small and large animal clinics.
- Supervise clinical care delivered by students, interns, and residents assigned to the ophthalmology service.
- Provide consultations within the Veterinary Teaching Hospital and with outside referring veterinarians.
- Participate in continuing education programs of the College and faculty governance activities.
- Teach didactic, laboratory, and small group clinical instruction in ophthalmology and related disciplines.
- Participate in the ophthalmology resident training program and engage in general ophthalmology service activities.
- Conduct research and scholarly activities, with opportunities for independent and collaborative creative scholarship.
Qualifications:
- DVM or equivalent foreign degree by the date of hire.
- Completion of an approved American Board of Veterinary Ophthalmology (ABVO) residency program by the date of hire.
- Eligibility to sit for the ABVO certification exam or board certification by the date of hire.
- Must be eligible for a Virginia faculty veterinary license by the date of hire.
- Occasional travel to attend professional conferences and meetings.
