Key Responsibilities:
Primarily conducts sonographic assessments for high-risk obstetric patients. Ensures adherence to quality standards and fosters ongoing quality enhancement. Maintains up-to-date knowledge of sonographic technology and equipment as necessary. Exhibits exceptional communication and customer service abilities. Serves as a resource for students, technologists, and other staff members.

CORE DUTIES
Ultrasound Imaging (60%)

- Executes abdominal and transvaginal OB/Gyn sonographic assessments following departmental standards promptly and efficiently.

- Produces images that comply with quality standards according to departmental protocols. Submits images for physician review.

Documentation (15%)

- Confirms the accuracy of patient demographic data, relevant clinical diagnoses, and necessary technical results.

- Ensures all technical data entry components are completed accurately and timely to optimize patient care.

Provider Assistance (10%)

- Aids physicians with in-office procedures related to obstetric care, including but not limited to amniocentesis and chorionic villi sampling.

- Capable of assisting physicians with fetal echo studies. Actively engages in a multidisciplinary approach to patient care.

- Collaborates closely with nursing and medical staff to achieve favorable outcomes and enhance patient flow.

Administrative Duties (10%)

- Oversees the inventory of supplies in imaging rooms to ensure their regular availability through timely reordering, rotation of dated items, and maintaining a clean and organized environment.

- Reports equipment malfunctions and actively supports organizational changes.

- Adheres to institutional safety protocols as outlined in the safety program.

- Performs job responsibilities while exemplifying service principles focused on innovation, service excellence, and teamwork to deliver the highest quality care and service to patients, families, colleagues, and others.

Patient Education (5%)

- Provides patient education through written materials and/or verbal explanations before, during, and after procedures to alleviate patient anxiety and enhance comfort regarding the procedure.

Qualifications:

MINIMUM EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED
Licensure / Registration / Certification

- Certification from the American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers (ARDMS) is required.

- RDMS (AB, OB) certification is mandatory.

- Basic Life Support (CPR) Certification is required and must be renewed biennially.

- Must maintain or obtain an active Nuchal Translucency License within three months of employment.

Educational Background:
- Graduate of an accredited Diagnostic Medical Sonography program.

Field of Study:
- Diagnostic Medical Sonography

Experience:
- A minimum of four years of experience is required.

Type of Experience:
- Three years of general ultrasound experience, with an additional 1-3 years in Maternal Fetal Medicine sonography is necessary.
