About You:

Your Role & Contribution

As a vital member of the team at Charles River Community Health (CRCH), a healthcare provider dedicated to delivering comprehensive and compassionate care to underserved communities, the Pharmacy Technician Trainee will support the pharmacy team in the preparation, billing, and dispensing of both prescription and over-the-counter medications. This role, under the guidance of pharmacy leadership, will equip the Pharmacy Technician Trainee with the necessary skills to prepare for the board-approved examination and achieve certification as a Registered Pharmacy Technician in Massachusetts. CRCH Pharmacies are dedicated facilities that offer exceptional outpatient pharmacy services to CRCH and community patients.

Your Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver outstanding customer service and address patient needs promptly and compassionately.
  • As a Pharmacy Technician Trainee, assist in the preparation and dispensing of medications while adhering to productivity, regulatory, and quality standards.
  • Under the supervision of the on-duty pharmacist, perform the following tasks:
    • Input prescription information into pharmacy software
    • Retrieve stock bottles for prescriptions
    • Reconstitute medications as required
    • Label medication containers accurately
    • Prepare unit-dose and modified unit-dose medications
    • Extend offers for patient counseling
  • Maintain accurate patient records and prescription details using pharmacy management systems.
  • Respond to phone inquiries in a professional and timely manner.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned by pharmacy leadership.

Your Qualifications & Skills

  • Active registration as a Pharmacy Technician in Training in Massachusetts is required.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills in both English and Spanish are highly preferred.
  • Exceptional customer service abilities are essential.
  • Flexibility to work various schedules to meet pharmacy and organizational needs is necessary. (Pharmacy Department Hours: 9am-7pm Mon, Tues, Thurs; 9am-5pm Wed & Fri; 9am-1pm Saturdays)
  • Commitment to a consistent schedule throughout the training period, with a minimum of eight hours of work per week.
  • Able to thrive in a fast-paced environment.
  • Proficient in troubleshooting and problem-solving.
  • Organizational skills and the ability to prioritize tasks effectively are required.
  • High level of integrity and transparency is expected.
  • A quick learner, ready to embrace new responsibilities.
  • Capable of maintaining a high volume of detailed, accurate, and complete work.
  • Experience in diverse cultural settings is preferred.
  • Experience working with historically underserved populations is advantageous.
