ABOUT YOU:
ROLE & CONTRIBUTION
As a vital member of the team at Charles River Community Health (CRCH), a healthcare provider dedicated to delivering comprehensive and compassionate care to underserved populations, the Pharmacy Technician Trainee will support the pharmacy team in the preparation, billing, and dispensing of prescription and over-the-counter medications to patients. This role, under the guidance of pharmacy leadership, will equip the Pharmacy Technician Trainee with the necessary skills to prepare for the board-approved examination and achieve certification as a Registered Pharmacy Technician in Massachusetts. CRCH Pharmacies are designed to offer exceptional outpatient pharmacy services to both CRCH and community patients.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Deliver outstanding customer service and address patient needs promptly and compassionately.
- Assist in the preparation and dispensing of prescription medications while adhering to productivity, regulatory, and quality standards.
- Under the supervision of the on-duty pharmacist, perform the following tasks:
- Input prescription information into data processing systems
- Retrieve stock bottles for prescriptions
- Reconstitute medications as needed
- Label prescription containers accurately
- Prepare unit-dose and modified unit-dose medications
- Offer counseling to patients
- Maintain accurate patient records and prescription data using pharmacy management software.
- Respond to phone inquiries in a professional and timely manner.
- Perform additional duties as assigned by pharmacy leadership.
QUALIFICATIONS & SKILLS
- Active registration as a Pharmacy Technician in Training in Massachusetts is required.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills in English and Spanish are highly preferred.
- Exceptional customer service abilities are essential.
- Flexibility to work varied schedules to meet the pharmacy's operational needs is necessary. (Pharmacy Department Hours: 9am-7pm Mon, Tues, Thurs; 9am-5pm Wed & Fri; 9am-1pm Saturdays)
- Commitment to a consistent schedule throughout the training period, with a minimum of eight hours of work per week.
- Able to thrive in a fast-paced environment.
- Problem-solving skills and the ability to troubleshoot effectively.
- Organizational skills and the ability to prioritize tasks efficiently.
- High level of integrity and transparency is required.
- Quick learner who is eager to take on new responsibilities.
- Ability to maintain a high volume of detailed, accurate, and complete work.
- Experience in diverse cultural settings is preferred.
- Experience working with historically underserved communities is preferred.
