Pipe Welder

Industrial Trade Services is seeking a skilled Pipe Welder to join our team.

We are looking for a highly skilled Pipe Welder to perform a variety of welding tasks, including pipe fabrication, welding, and assembly. The successful candidate will have a strong understanding of welding processes, materials, and safety procedures.

• Select and prepare materials and equipment according to specifications.
• Plan and execute welding layouts, assembly, and welding, applying knowledge of geometry and physical properties of metal.
• Operate various welding processes, including Gas-Metal Arc, Flux-Cored Arc, Gas-Tungsten Arc, Submerged Arc, and Shielded Metal Arc.
• Lay out, position, and fit components together, using arc and arc gas welding equipment.
• Bolt, clamp, and weld metal components of products, such as piping systems, plate, pipe, and tube or structural shapes.
• Connect cable from welding unit to obtain amperage, voltage, slope, and pulse as specified by procedure or supervisor.
• Start power supply to produce electric current and strike arc to melt and deposit metal from electrode to work piece.
• Guide electrode or gun along weld-line, maintaining length of arc and speed and movement to form specified depth of fusion and bead.
• Clean or degrease weld joint or workplace, using wire brush, portable grinder, or chemical bath.
• Repair broken or cracked parts and fill holes.
• Remove excess weld, defective weld material, slag, and spatter, using carbon arc gouge, hand scrapper, grinder, or power chipper.
• Preheat work piece, using hand torch or heating furnace.
• Cut metal plates or structural shapes.
• Examine weld for bead size and other specifications.
• Load, transport, and unload material, tools, equipment, and supplies.
• Assist in lifting, positioning, and securing of materials and work pieces during installation.
• Perform minor maintenance or cleaning activities of tools and equipment.
• Assist other mechanics as needed.

• Visualize objects in three dimensions from plans and drawings.
