About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Registered Nurse to join our Acute Surgery Unit team on night shifts. As a key member of our healthcare team, you will provide exceptional patient care and contribute to a positive and supportive work environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate patient care based on the standards of care and policies of LCMC Health.
  • Delegate to professional and non-professional personnel involved in the delivery of care.
  • Facilitate and maintain a safe environment for patients and others with a specialty in wound care treatment and prevention.
  • Perform priority technical procedures required by the area/department/assignment safely, effectively, efficiently, and legally.
  • Actively promote and support LCMC Health's performance improvement initiatives by consistently implementing infection control practices, maintaining the environment of care consistent with Joint Commission requirements, and participating in quality improvement activities and review/audit processes.
  • Utilize the nursing process to deliver patient care, organizing, prioritizing, and coordinating all aspects of care for each assigned patient.
  • Communicate effectively with patients, families, and healthcare team members, using appropriate channels to share information and updates.
  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary team members to identify actions to improve patient care and education.
  • Seek supervision, consultation, and assistance when unable to perform effectively or safely independently.
  • Delegate safely and appropriately to other team members to accomplish direct patient care or support activities.
  • Consistently perform proper hand-off to ensure continuity of care while identifying and communicating problems.
  • Advises supervisor of current or anticipated problems and accepts and completes assignments in a timely fashion.
  • Uses age-appropriate principles of learning and initiates, consults, and collaborates with available patient education resources.
  • Works closely with physical therapy, occupational therapy, speech therapy, and social workers to meet the educational needs of the patient/family.
Requirements
  • Valid Louisiana license or temporary permit to practice professional nursing.
  • American Heart Association BLS-HCP.
  • BSN preferred.
  • Experience in an acute care hospital, preferred.
  • A minimum of 1-year professional nursing experience is required for per diem, Flex-PRN positions.
