Job Summary

Geisinger Health System is seeking a Patient Care Technician to join our team. As a Patient Care Technician, you will play a vital role in providing high-quality patient care and support to our patients and families.

Responsibilities
  • Provide direct patient care and support to patients and families, including assisting with activities of daily living and fulfilling designated and delegated responsibilities for ongoing continuum of care.
  • Observe and document the physical needs of patients according to established standards, and report any changes in patient condition to licensed personnel in a timely manner.
  • Process specimens and provide timely transport of specimens to the point of care patient testing and point of care instrument maintenance and quality control.
  • Assist in problem-solving, trouble-shooting, and taking corrective measures in care and maintenance of equipment and supplies.
  • Participate in obtaining and communicating electronic information as pertinent to the nursing unit, and schedule tests, faxes consults, etc.
  • Assist in ordering supplies, stationery items, and floor stock, patient needs, individual nursing supplies, and communicate with food services to ensure appropriate patient diets.
  • Operate, problem-solve, and take corrective measures for clerical equipment, including scheduling maintenance of computers, fax machines, phones, etc.
Requirements
  • High School Diploma or Equivalent (GED)
  • Minimum of 1 year-Clinical experience preferred
  • Basic Life Support Certification within 6 months
