About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Mechanical Maintenance Crew Leader to join our Smelter Operations team at Alcoa. As a key member of our maintenance team, you will be responsible for supervising, advising, and coordinating the work of our mechanics to ensure safe and efficient execution of assigned work.

Key Responsibilities
  • Troubleshoot equipment failures on-shift and collect data for further analysis by reliability personnel.
  • Lead safety pre-job reviews and observations of work completed on shift.
  • Act to improve the efficiency and quality of work assigned to their workforce and provide timely attention to emergency jobs.
  • Submit accurate reports of work execution activities.
  • Coordinate company policies as they relate to assigned personnel.
  • Maintain close liaison with production, support groups, maintenance planners, engineers, and other crew leaders.
Requirements
  • High school diploma/GED required.
  • 2 years of experience in heavy industry (aluminum, steel, mining, paper/pulp, etc.) and performing maintenance/troubleshooting on rotating equipment (pumps, gearboxes, etc.).
  • Confirmed experience troubleshooting PLCs and hydraulic/pneumatic circuits.
  • Experience using a CMMS and applying process data to troubleshoot equipment issues.
  • Proven understanding of hydraulic and pneumatic systems and material conveying systems.
  • Ability to read and interpret drawings, codes, and standards.
  • Strong organizational, leadership, and communication skills.
  • Ability to work on other shifts and/or come in early or stay late as needed.
  • Excellent knowledge of Microsoft Office products.
