Job Summary

We are seeking a highly motivated and compassionate Bilingual Housing Navigator to join our team at The City of Providence. As a key member of our community support team, you will play a vital role in providing housing information, advocacy, support, and referrals to families in need.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide housing support services to families residing at Lucy's Hearth family shelter in Middletown, assisting them in relocating to stable and safe housing in Providence.
  • Assist with outreach and engagement to expand access to underserved communities, promoting our services and building relationships with community partners.
  • Process requests for rental and security deposit assistance to prevent homelessness, working closely with clients to address barriers to maintaining stable and safe housing.
  • Provide coaching and triage to help service recipients address challenges and achieve their goals, ensuring they have the necessary support to maintain stable and safe housing.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's Degree in a human or social service field, or Associate's degree in a relevant field with field experience.
  • One year of case management or field experience, with a focus on housing support services within Rhode Island.
  • Ability to utilize Microsoft platforms and an Electronic Medical Record, with excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Must possess a Community Health Worker certification or be willing to become certified within 12 months of employment.
  • Must possess a BHHP Housing First certification or be willing to become certified within 12 months of employment.
  • Possession of a valid driver's license, reliable transportation, and proof of current automobile insurance.
  • Must be agreeable to a hybrid work environment and flexible scheduling to meet recipient needs.
  • Bilingual in Spanish is required, with bilingual skills compensated by an additional 6% above base pay.
Physical Requirements
  • This position requires a mix of at-home/virtual, office-based, and community-visit work.
  • Employees in this position must be able to travel to and from office sites and community locations, which could include using walkways, stairs, and/or elevators.
  • Employees must also have the ability to lift up to 20 lbs.
