Collaboration with Weld Engineers is essential for executing customer-required mock-ups and testing procedures. The Weld Technician will juggle multiple projects and priorities to ensure the timely fulfillment of job-specific requirements while keeping accurate welder continuity records.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage the welding programs database effectively.
  • Conduct and facilitate weld procedure qualifications according to specifications, ensuring all data is accurately recorded and maintained.
  • Facilitate the qualification of welders.
  • Perform tube-to-tube sheet mock-ups as required.
  • Carry out basic maintenance and troubleshooting of mechanized, automatic, and orbital welding equipment in production for daily welding-related issues.
  • Support maintenance and welding engineering teams in the operation of mechanized, automatic, and orbital welding equipment for advanced troubleshooting and repairs.
  • Assist Weld Engineering in developing new welding processes and procedures.
  • Train and support welders/operators in production while evaluating welds against applicable standards.
  • Maintain effective communication and work independently to support production welding operators.
  • Understand production welding inspection requirements and acceptance standards.
  • Operate and load welding programs onto programmable Polysoude welding machines, performing minor maintenance as needed.
  • Procure and prepare test plates for evaluation.
  • Coordinate laboratory testing as necessary.
  • Draft procedure qualification records and welder performance qualification records in compliance with ASME Section IX and NavseaTechpub 248.
  • Engage with Shop Leads and Weld Engineers daily regarding activity requirements.
  • Adhere to quality management system procedures consistently.

Qualifications:

  • 5-7 years of experience in welding.
  • Proficient computer skills are essential.
  • A solid practical background in relevant materials, fabrication, and product technology is required.
  • A high school diploma or GED/BOCES is mandatory.
  • Technical aptitude is necessary.
  • Successful completion of an eye examination, including a color blindness test, is required.

Compensation: The hourly wage ranges from $27 to $36.
