Job Summary

New London Hospital is seeking a skilled and compassionate Registered Nurse to join our Preoperative Services team as a Preoperative Care Coordinator. In this critical role, you will be responsible for ensuring the smooth transition of patients from admission to surgery, providing exceptional care and support to our patients and their families.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct thorough preoperative assessments, including physical and psychological evaluations, to identify potential risks and develop personalized care plans.
  • Collaborate with the anesthesia department to coordinate patient needs and ensure seamless communication.
  • Provide individualized education to patients and their families, addressing any concerns or questions they may have.
  • Ensure accurate and complete documentation of patient information, including lab results, physical assessments, and special needs.
  • Participate in quality improvement initiatives to enhance patient care and safety.

Requirements

  • 2 years of relevant clinical experience, preferably in critical care or PACU.
  • Graduate of an accredited school of nursing.
  • Current state license and BLS and ACLS certification.
