Accountable for delivering technical guidance and leadership regarding the design, development, and implementation of solutions tailored to our clientele.
The technical architect innovates solutions for both business and technical challenges, formulates and maintains technical documentation, and proactively addresses issues that may arise, offering alternative strategies and solutions, clearly communicating decisions, and establishing the benchmark for the highest quality of work.
Your Responsibilities- Engage in all stages of the software development lifecycle and oversee application design.
- Design, develop, and implement large-scale, highly available applications.
- Collaborate with architects to outline the technical roadmap for the product, provide design and technical governance, and set technical standards, including software coding standards, tools, and platforms.
- Assess product requirements and propose solutions that align with the product's vision and the technology roadmap.
- Work closely with architecture to ensure decisions support long-term enterprise growth objectives.
- Complete necessary documentation for technical designs, engineering processes, and project decisions.
- Create tools and frameworks to expedite development and delivery.
- Investigate and implement new technologies and solutions to improve current processes, security, and performance.
- Develop cross-departmental services and applications in collaboration with IT's central architecture team.
- Serve as the technical subject matter expert (SME) for the product.
- Evaluate new technologies and tools, lead proof of concepts (POCs) to validate new ideas, and advocate for sound design practices.
- Mentor and guide team members in architecture, design, development, deployment, and system maintenance.
- Troubleshoot and resolve complex issues, identifying and implementing effective solutions.
- Collaborate with production operations to ensure smooth deployments and meet customer support needs.
- Be prepared to work extended hours, including nights and weekends, as necessary to support operations.
Qualifications for Success
Minimum Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Technology, Information Systems (CIS/MIS), Engineering, or a related technical field, or equivalent experience/training.
- 5 years of experience delivering SDLC solutions utilizing ITIL / Agile / XP, or similar methodologies.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Technology, Information Systems (CIS/MIS), Engineering, or a related technical field, or equivalent experience/training.
- 8+ years of experience delivering SDLC solutions utilizing ITIL / Agile / XP, or similar methodologies.
- 3+ years of experience providing technical leadership.
- Experience in the airline industry, including familiarity with Sabre, business processes, and supporting technologies.
Skills and Certifications
- Proficient in Java SE, Java EE, .NET, or Spring.
- Strong understanding of Object-Oriented design principles.
- Knowledge of Java/Java EE design patterns, SOA principles, EAI patterns, and UML.
- Experience with relational databases.
- Familiarity with microservices architecture and JavaScript MVC frameworks.
- Proficient in diagnostics/testing tools such as Splunk, Dynatrace, LISA, and SOAP UI.
- Well-versed in application design, development, automated testing, and delivery in an agile environment.
- Strong understanding of PCI, SOX, PII, and security processes and standards.
- Familiarity with software configuration management/build processes.
- Ability to document the existing environment and develop strategies for design changes, detailing both technical and business functions involved.
- Capability to generate technical roadmaps.
- Ability to train and mentor team members.
- Excellent analytical and technical problem-solving skills.
- Experience working with Agile methodologies and tools.
- Familiarity with DevOps Toolchain methodologies, including TDD (test-driven development), Continuous Integration, and Continuous Deployment.
- Demonstrated initiative, flexibility, and adaptability to changing priorities and work environments.
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment while applying best practices.
- Strategic thinking with tactical methods to achieve objectives and goals.
- Strong relationship-building skills with team members, customers, and external groups, fostering collaboration in a geographically dispersed environment.
