Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist in the coaching of individual participants in the skills necessary for excellent achievement in swimming.
  • Assist in planning and scheduling a regular program of practice in season.
  • Work closely with the athletic director and Head Coach in scheduling interscholastic contests.
  • Recommend the purchase of equipment, supplies, and uniforms as necessary.
  • Maintain necessary attendance forms, insurance records, and similar paperwork.
  • Oversee the safety conditions of the facility or area in which swimming is conducted at all times that students are present.
  • Establish performance criteria for eligibility in interscholastic competition in swimming.
  • Enforce discipline and sportsmanlike behavior at all times, and establish and oversee penalties for breach of such standards by individual students.
  • Assist in organizing and supervising a total sports program.
  • Demonstrate effective human relations and communication skills.
  • Comply with all district rules, regulations, and policies.
  • Regular and consistent attendance is an essential function of this position.

Qualifications:

  • Valid Missouri teacher or substitute certificate issued through DESE.
  • Preferred previous coaching experience in swimming.
  • Possession of the knowledge, skills, abilities, and physical attributes necessary to perform the essential functions of the position.
  • Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board may find appropriate or acceptable.
