About the Role

Gibbs & Cox, a leading naval architecture and marine engineering firm, is seeking a skilled Naval Architect to join their team. As a mid-level professional, you will play a crucial role in supporting the USCG Ship Design Team at the USCG Surface Forces Logistics Center in Baltimore, MD.

Key Responsibilities
  • Apply naval architecture principles, techniques, calculations, procedures, and criteria to support ship design and integration engineering challenges.
  • Collaborate with multi-discipline teams to lead overall ship development and design integration.
  • Develop and execute trade studies and requirements development.
  • Prepare and present technical reports and engineering documentation.
Requirements
  • BS or Advanced Degree in Naval Architecture or Marine Engineering.
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in naval architecture or marine engineering.
  • Ability to obtain a secret clearance.
  • Competency in stability tests, speed, power, maneuvering, and seakeeping trials.
  • Knowledge of USN, USCG, IACS, and/or commercial ship design rules and regulations.
  • Proficiency in standard naval architecture tools such as GHS, Rhino, AutoCAD, and Adobe or Bluebeam.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with DoD ACAT I or DHS Level I shipbuilding programs.
  • Experience with ship corrosion.
