This position is open to all current and former federal employees with reinstatement eligibility, as well as veterans and individuals eligible under various special hiring authorities.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conducts assessments and monitoring studies to identify necessary improvements for rangeland and watershed management in alignment with established objectives. Engages in the collection, analysis, and interpretation of monitoring data to ensure compliance with land use goals.
  • Develops, updates, and maintains strategic planning documents for the rangeland management initiative. Contributes to interdisciplinary reports, environmental assessments, resource management plans, and protective measures for rangeland ecosystems.
  • Evaluates range permit applications to verify adherence to federal regulations. Issues livestock use permits, manages transfers, updates case files, and executes actions related to unauthorized use and adjustments.
  • Oversees and reviews field and district office range documentation for compliance with NEPA standards. Acts as an interdisciplinary team member or reviewer for planning and NEPA documentation efforts as required.
  • Conducts research to address issues and objectives related to rangeland management. Participates in monitoring and surveying activities that may affect sensitive shrub and grassland areas.
  • Functions as a rangeland resource consultant and advisor to ranchers, farmers, and other land users within the designated area.
  • Prepares, assesses, and performs ecological evaluations of public rangeland initiatives. Develops and executes Allotment Management Plans.
  • Plans, manages, and implements evaluations for assigned allotments. Serves as the principal specialist in the development and revision of allotment management strategies.
