Position Summary

The 1st Class Welder is responsible for executing various welding tasks on structural plates and 6G pipes using SMAW, FCAW, and GTAW techniques. A willingness to cross-train in multi-functional structural and piping assembly processes is essential.

Key Responsibilities
  • Understand and implement job-specific WPS/PQRs, setting up machines for optimal performance in all positions to meet certified testing standards.
  • Analyze blueprints for weld insignia and apply them to assembly components within piping and structural systems.
  • Prepare metal surfaces for welding by accurately measuring, cutting, and fitting as per job specifications.
  • Conduct visual inspections of pre and post-welded surfaces and utilize precision measuring instruments to ensure compliance with job requirements.
  • Identify insufficient weld criteria and possess the knowledge to effectively blend and repair.
  • Demonstrate strong mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills while adhering to instructions.
  • Accountable for completing daily assignments while ensuring quality, safety, and health standards are met.
  • Operate overhead cranes and forklifts as necessary.
  • Comply with all company policies, procedures, and safety regulations, and be physically and medically qualified to wear required PPE as per OSHA standards.
  • Prepare for ISO 9001 and other audits.
Qualifications

Required:
- High school diploma or GED.
- Experience in threading, grinding, welding, brazing, rigging, plasma cutting, and gas arc cutting.
- Relevant experience or training.

Preferred:
- Over 6 years of experience in SMAW, FCAW, and GTAW welding, or a combination thereof.
- Two years of vocational technical training.

Additional Requirements:
- Dependable transportation and a valid driver's license.
- Clean background check and consent for random drug screening.

Work Authorization:
- Must be authorized to work in the USA.
