Job Summary

We are seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Logistics Assistant to join our Refugee Services team at Interfaith Ministries for Greater Houston. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for setting up apartments for new arrivals, handling donations, and providing transportation services to clients.

Main Responsibilities
  • Logistics and Apartment Setup: Set up apartments for all new arrivals, including household items and furniture.
  • Donation Management: Handle pick-up, storage, and delivery of donations and other items needed by Refugee Services clients.
  • Transportation Services: Provide accurate, reliable, and courteous transportation to Refugee Services clients to and from employment sites using Agency's vehicles.
  • Inventory Control: Maintain inventory control for R&P household items as needed.
  • Client Communication: Meet with clients to determine their need for items and communicate with them about deliveries.
  • Paperwork and Reporting: Complete paperwork documenting donations and deliveries, and report any maintenance issues with the vehicle to the supervisor.
Requirements
  • Education: High school diploma is required.
  • Physical Abilities: Ability to move 50 pounds unassisted on a daily basis.
  • Driving Skills: Must be willing and able to drive a 12 passenger van.
  • Knowledge and Skills: Knowledge of the Harris county area, ability to follow directions and utilize maps, good communication skills, and customer service.
  • Language Skills: Reading and writing English is required. Bilingual in another refugee language (Arabic, Spanish, Burmese, and Nepali) is required.
  • Driver's License and Insurance: Valid driver's license, automobile liability insurance as required by law, and a good driving record is required.
