Position Overview

Junior Systems Administrator

We are seeking a motivated Junior Systems Administrator to support a dynamic and high-performing agile team utilizing the Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe) methodology. The successful candidate will be tasked with daily system administration and operational support within a complex network environment characterized by geographically dispersed systems. This role focuses on the ongoing maintenance and support of existing computing and network systems across various locations, particularly emphasizing the establishment and upkeep of remote sites.

Security Clearance Requirements:

Applicants must be U.S. Citizens and hold a TS/SCI Security Clearance with an appropriate Polygraph.

Key Responsibilities

  • Monitor infrastructure systems, applications, and processes, ensuring timely identification, tracking, and resolution of issues.
  • Provide support for all infrastructure systems, responding to hardware and software incidents affecting local users while collaborating with senior system administrators remotely.
  • Manage IT Help Desk inquiries, ensuring professional and timely interactions.
  • Utilize enterprise monitoring tools to detect and address alarms triggered within the environments.
  • Collaborate with senior technicians to troubleshoot and resolve hardware and software issues, including network connectivity challenges.
  • Assist companion workgroups with overlapping projects, fostering positive inter-departmental relationships.
  • Communicate system outage statuses to users as necessary.
  • Proactively inform customers of significant delays in infrastructure processes that may impact their business functions.
  • Execute processes for managing information assurance vulnerability alerts (IAVAs) and conduct system security scans in line with System Security Plans.
  • Initiate IAVA responses and security scans, complete remediation, and apply patches and updates across various IT and network systems.
  • Contribute to the creation and maintenance of documentation to ensure clear and accurate information is available for incident resolution.
  • Support the implementation of IT enhancements and participate in project work.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications

  • A minimum of 4 years of relevant experience.
  • Hands-on experience in providing user assistance in an IT or customer service role.
  • Experience in documenting technical processes and providing information.
  • Familiarity with Data Center design and configuration.
  • Experience with complex IT systems and equipment, including network switches, routers, LANs, and operating systems.
  • Knowledge of IT system optimization and troubleshooting.
  • Ability to respond quickly and clearly to customer inquiries, providing detailed status reports.
  • Commitment to best practices, including compliance with maintenance windows and change control procedures.
  • Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
  • Independent thinker capable of working autonomously and collaboratively.
  • Availability for emergency system administration and maintenance on an as-needed basis.
  • Willingness to travel up to 25% of the time for local program locations.

Preferred Qualifications

  • BS degree in a technical field with at least 4 years of relevant experience; additional experience may substitute for a degree.
  • Familiarity with security standards and network security technologies.
  • Experience in software configuration management and development environments.
  • Experience in Agile Development Environments or on Agile Teams.
