Family Support Specialist

Are you passionate about making a positive impact on the lives of young families? We're seeking a dedicated Family Support Specialist to join our team at the University of Kansas Medical Center. As a Family Support Specialist, you will play a crucial role in ensuring pregnant persons and parents of infants receive the care and guidance they need.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide case management and personalized support to families, ensuring they have access to regular health services and understand healthy choices.
  • Help families progress toward self-sufficiency by promoting education and employment opportunities.
  • Foster positive connections and facilitate appropriate referrals to other community services.
  • Work collaboratively with other program staff and community partners to resolve conflicts and overcome barriers.
Requirements:
  • Associate's Degree and/or equivalent combination of experience/education.
  • 2 years' experience working in one of the following areas: community-based programs, healthcare systems, health departments, or clinics.
  • Experience with databases, email, the internet, Zoom, and Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's Degree in health, social work, psychology, or related field.
  • Case management or Teen Pregnant Targeted Case Management (TPTCM) training or experience.
  • Experience working with adolescents and/or pregnant and postpartum women.
  • Experience working with the KanCare system and/or the uninsured population.
