CLASSIFICATION:

The Non-sworn Deputy Sheriff Trainee (DST) engages in a structured law enforcement training program sanctioned by relevant state authorities.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

As a Deputy Sheriff, your duties may include:

  • Providing testimony in court proceedings
  • Executing arrests
  • Handling and securing evidence
  • Utilizing firearms
  • Operating county vehicles

CORRECTIONAL AND COURT FACILITY DUTIES:

Responsibilities may involve:

  • Monitoring inmate behavior
  • Enforcing correctional policies
  • Conducting searches for contraband
  • Transporting inmates as required

PATROL AND SPECIALIZED ASSIGNMENTS:

In this role, you may be tasked with:

  • Patrolling designated areas to uphold laws
  • Responding to criminal activity reports
  • Conducting investigations

SELECTION CRITERIA:

Applicants must meet the following requirements:

  • Minimum age of 19 years
  • Legal authorization to work in the U.S.
  • High school graduation or equivalent
  • Valid California Class 'C' driver license
  • Good physical condition

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

Successful candidates must be prepared to work various shifts, including overtime, and adapt to diverse work conditions.

EXAMINATION:

The assessment will consist of a multiple-choice test evaluating a range of skills.
