At Assist Ambulance, we are seeking an EMT Dispatcher Trainee to join our Communications Department. This role is perfect for an experienced EMT looking to expand their skills into telecommunications. As a dispatcher trainee, you will work alongside a team of skilled dispatchers and calltakers to provide support via telemetry, radio, GPS services, and tracking software.

About the Job
  • This position involves high-volume call-taking for non-emergency medical transports and emergency calls with various medical facilities and partners, including community paramedicine calls and interfacility STAT transfers.
  • You will work closely with EMTs, MVOs, paramedics, supervisors, and directors to provide support via telemetry, radio, GPS services, and tracking software.

In this role, you will assist with daily operations by coordinating crew members, busses, supplies, troubleshooting, and equipment. You will also have the opportunity to learn from experienced dispatchers and develop your skills in a high-stress environment.

Requirements
  • You must have 1 year of experience in call-taking or a comparable customer service-based role.
  • An active NY State EMT card is required.
  • You must be able to pass a 10-panel drug screening, including THC.
  • Excellent customer service skills and professionalism are essential.
  • You should have proactive communication skills and experience working in teams.
  • Motivation to learn dispatching in a high-stress environment is necessary.
  • Attention to detail and multitasking skills are required.
  • Experience with electronic medical records, medical billing processes, data entry, or insurance portals is a plus.

Paid Training: Successful completion of training leads to employment.

Paid Benefits: Health insurance (Blue Cross, Blue Shield Anthem Bronze plan), paid sick time/PTO (up to 56 hours per calendar year), and paid vacation (40 hours at 1 year anniversary, 80 hours at 3 year anniversary, 120 hours at 6 year anniversary).

Estimated Salary: $60,000 - $80,000 per annum
