Division Chair, Cardiothoracic Surgery

Virginia Commonwealth University is seeking a highly qualified and experienced Division Chair for its Cardiothoracic Surgery program. The successful candidate will lead a team of faculty and staff in providing exceptional patient care, advancing research, and fostering a culture of excellence in education and clinical practice.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide strategic leadership and vision for the Cardiothoracic Surgery program
  • Develop and implement clinical, educational, and research initiatives to advance the program's mission and goals
  • Collaborate with departmental and institutional leaders to promote interdisciplinary collaboration and innovation
  • Recruit and retain top talent in cardiothoracic surgery, including faculty and staff
  • Develop and manage budgets and resources to support program growth and excellence
Requirements:
  • Board certification or eligibility in thoracic surgery
  • Virginia state licensure and DEA certification
  • Excellent interpersonal and leadership skills, with a strong track record of collaboration and team building
  • Ability to function in a complex matrixed environment, with a focus on patient-centered care and quality improvement
  • Commitment to clinical excellence, education, and research, with a focus on advancing the field of cardiothoracic surgery
Preferred Qualifications:
