Position Overview

As a Dish Machine Operator/Utility, you will play a vital role in maintaining the cleanliness and organization of our kitchen. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Ensuring an efficient workflow while washing dishes and utensils
  • Upholding food safety and sanitation standards
  • Restocking kitchen supplies and cook line as necessary during your shift
  • Performing general cleaning duties throughout the restaurant
  • Managing the pace and organization of dishwashing tasks
  • Understanding the operation of the dish machine and its chemical components
  • Following procedures for changing water and chemicals as required
  • Maintaining cleanliness of floors in both the front and back of house
  • Keeping floors clean and dry
  • Ensuring plates and smallwares are spotless

Key Responsibilities

  1. Adhere to all back-of-house systems and procedures, as well as company policies and standards
  2. Inspect food receiving, preparation, production, and storage areas to ensure compliance with health and safety regulations
  3. Maintain cleanliness and safety standards in all back-of-house areas
  4. Support all company decisions and directives
  5. Exhibit teamwork and collaboration throughout your shift
  6. Contribute to a positive customer experience by ensuring timely delivery of food products
  7. Follow standardized recipes and procedures for preparation and presentation
  8. Keep kitchen, dish, and storage areas organized
  9. Maintain equipment cleanliness and report any repair needs to management
  10. Minimize waste and theft through proper accounting and strict adherence to recipes
  11. Cross-train in other positions when opportunities arise
  12. Adhere to meal and rest break regulations

Qualifications

  • Preferred 2 years of experience in a full-service restaurant environment
  • Demonstrated leadership abilities
  • Bi-lingual in English and Spanish is a plus
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Excellent organizational skills
  • A collaborative team player

Judgment and Personal Requirements

  • Ability to manage multiple tasks while maintaining operational standards
  • Strict adherence to food quality and safety standards
  • Knowledge of company policies to recommend solutions to restaurant challenges
  • Availability to work various shifts, including opens, swings, and closes
  • Position involves extensive interaction with employees across all levels

Physical and Language Skills

  • Ability to lift and/or move up to 30 lbs.
  • Vision capabilities including distance, close, color, depth, and peripheral vision
  • Regular use of hands for handling objects and tools
  • Able to work in varying temperature environments
  • Ability to communicate clearly and listen attentively
  • Ability to read and follow written and verbal instructions
  • Ability to apply common sense to carry out instructions
  • Understanding of policies and procedures
