Key Responsibilities

  • Customer Service:
    • Greet patients in a positive and courteous manner
    • Answer and direct calls to appropriate personnel
    • Direct visitors and physician office patients to correct locations
    • Assist patients with questions about patient portal
    • Ensure waiting area and front desk are organized and presentable
  • Admission:
    • Verify and update personal and demographic information
    • Review and explain paperwork, including privacy acknowledgments and financial responsibility
    • Obtain and scan insurance cards into applicable databases
    • Verify insurance eligibility and benefits information
    • Collect and witness required signatures on patient paperwork
  • Discharge:
    • Assist patients with scheduling and rescheduling appointments
    • Provide financial counseling and assistance with charity applications
    • Collect and post payments on accounts
  • Reporting and Recordkeeping:
    • Access and review work lists in multiple systems daily
    • Process, maintain, and update patient records
    • Reconcile daily activities, including patient orders and payments
  • Bill Edit Review:
    • Review and research rejected interface data
    • Resolve billing edits
  • Supplies:
    • Maintain up-to-date office supplies and stock
  • Regulation:
    • Adhere to NMHS/NMMC policies, procedures, and guidelines

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Minimum of 2 years of clerical and collection experience in a healthcare environment
  • Strong organizational, customer service, and communication skills
  • Strong mathematical skills and problem-solving abilities
  • Working knowledge of personal computers and software applications
  • Strong interpersonal skills
