Job Title: Residency Nurse

We are seeking a highly motivated and dedicated Residency Nurse to join our team at DHR Health. As a Residency Nurse, you will play a critical role in providing high-quality patient care and contributing to the growth and development of our nursing staff.

Job Summary:

The Residency Nurse will be responsible for providing safe and effective nursing care to assigned patients, utilizing the nursing process and working under the direct supervision of a registered nurse during their orientation period. This is an excellent opportunity for new graduate nurses or RNs with limited or no hospital experience to develop their skills and knowledge in a supportive environment.

Responsibilities:
  • Provide safe and effective nursing care to assigned patients
  • Assess patients' needs for nursing care and other services
  • Collaborate with physicians, other services, patients, and patients' families to plan care and evaluate outcomes
  • Improve practice by integrating results and theories of research studies and actively participates in data collection for current studies
  • Ensure integration of safety and quality standards into practice and delivery of team care
  • Document care according to established standards
  • Access, input, and retrieve information from computer systems
  • Act as a patient and family advocate in order to uphold patient rights
  • Organize and prioritize work of patient care team
  • Train, coach, and assist team members to ensure optimum patient care and efficient use of resources
Requirements:
  • High School/GED required
  • Graduation from an accredited school of professional nursing
  • Temporary GN permit or RN license from the State of Texas prior to beginning employment required
  • Current BLS certification
  • ACLS or PALS certification within six (6) months after transfer into home-based department (as applicable to department)
  • Good written and verbal communication skills required
  • Nights and/or weekend work will be required
  • Bilingual - English/Spanish preferred
Working Conditions:

The individual spends over 95% of their time in an air-conditioned environment with varying exposures to noise. There is protection from weather conditions but not necessarily from temperature changes.

The position does have low exposure to malodorous, infectious body fluids from patients and some minimal exposure to noxious smells from cleansing agents.

This position has minimal to no exposure to blood, body fluids, or tissues and is an OSHA Category III.

Customer Service:

Provide excellent customer service to all DHR customers. All employees are required to attend the DHR C.A.R.E. S program which outlines the Customer Service Principals including: Commitment, Accountability, Respect, Excellence, and Service.

Age Specific:

Employees must be able to demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patients served in his/her assigned unit.

The individual must demonstrate knowledge of principles of growth and development over the life span and possess the ability to assess data reflective of the patient's status and interpret the appropriate information needed to identify each patient's requirement relative to his or her age.
