Job Summary

The US Department of Health and Human Services is seeking a highly skilled Clinical Pharmacist to join our team. As a Clinical Pharmacist, you will be responsible for maintaining high-quality pharmacy services to patients and their families. This position reports to the Pharmacy Supervisor located within the Pharmacy Department.

Key Responsibilities
  • Properly interpret prescriptions and dispense medications as prescribed by physicians and other health practitioners.
  • Provide information to health practitioners and patients about proper medication usage and potential side effects.
  • Evaluate medication use patterns and outcomes for patients in hospitals or managed care organizations.
  • Perform administrative, consultative, or staff advisory work for the pharmacy program.
  • Plan, monitor, and evaluate medication programs or regimens.
  • Establish medication-handling procedures for the storage and preservation of medications.
  • Research medical literature and/or clinical medication information to provide accurate responses to inquiries.
  • Maintain all medication records required by law.
Requirements
  • A doctoral degree in Pharmacy recognized by the Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education (ACPE) or an accrediting body recognized by the US Department of Education at the time the degree was obtained.
  • Licensure to practice pharmacy in a State, the District of Columbia, the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, or a territory of the United States.
  • Qualifying professional pharmacy experience, which may involve dispensing medications, providing information to health practitioners and patients, evaluating medication use patterns, and performing administrative work for the pharmacy program.
Working Conditions

This position is subject to a background investigation and may require a credit check. The selected individual is required to obtain and maintain medical staff clinical privileges, including any licensure requirements. If privileges are not obtained or maintained during employment, the employee will be subject to adverse actions, up to and including removal from Federal service.
