Job Summary

At FCS Financial, a key player in the Farm Credit System and the largest lending cooperative in the United States, we are seeking a Manager of Title Services to lead our exceptional team.

Position Overview


This role is responsible for guiding personnel in the Title Services Department, which encompasses Title Closing Specialists and Title and Escrow Officers. The primary focus is to deliver outstanding service and support to both internal and external clients by ensuring the production of timely, efficient, accurate, and regulatory compliant title commitments and policies, along with managing closing and escrow functions for transactions related to agricultural and consumer loans secured by agricultural, commercial, and residential real estate.

Key Responsibilities

1. Leadership & Training (30%)
- Cultivates, inspires, and assesses a team of Title Closing Specialists and Title/Escrow Officers.
- Recommends staffing decisions, including hiring and promotions.
- Defines roles and provides guidance and direction.
- Monitors and manages team workload, offering assistance as necessary.
- Establishes and implements performance standards and objectives.
- Oversees leave requests and evaluates time-off submissions.
- Approves and processes staff expense reports.
- Identifies training needs and schedules training sessions.

2. Title Services Operations (25%)
- Develops policies, procedures, and processes for the title agency, considering the Association's closing and escrow functions.
- Leads title services initiatives, fostering relationships with internal staff, vendor searchers, and real estate agents.
- Provides direction, training, and support to team members regarding title and closing processes.
- Prepares monthly reports for Risk Management and Executive Leadership.
- Collaborates with the Vice President of Title and Loan Services to address title issues.
- Monitors documentation for title services.

3. Title Services Documentation & Closing Coordination (25%)
- Processes incoming files, including document reviews, sales contracts, and lender title orders.
- May conduct title searches and examinations as required.
- Prepares and finalizes title commitments and policies.
- Oversees the preparation of various legal documents, including deeds and financing statements.
- Works with Title Services, Loan Services, and Marketplace to resolve issues.
- Completes settlement statements based on relevant documentation.
- Ensures compliance with company standards and applicable laws during transactions.
- Coordinates escrow closings among involved parties.
- Engages with underwriters or legal counsel for necessary approvals.
- Reviews closing instructions and other documents for loan closings.
- Communicates closing requirements and confirms compliance.

4. Training Development and Presentation (15%)
- Designs an onboarding plan for new hires.
- Identifies training topics for the Title Services department staff.
- Develops and schedules training materials and sessions.
- Delivers training and provides coaching to Title Closing Specialists and Title and Escrow Officers.

5. Policies and Procedures (5%)
- Participates in workgroups to recommend updates to policies and procedures.
- Stays informed about changes in policies and communicates updates to staff.

Other Duties
- Performs additional responsibilities as needed to support the organization.

Required Skills

Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in business, accounting, or a related field.
- 5+ years of direct experience in the land title industry, with a preference for title agency management experience.
- A Missouri Title Agent License is preferred or the ability to obtain one within three months of hiring.
- Valid Missouri driver's license or equivalent experience.

Required Knowledge and Skills:
- Extensive knowledge of escrow and title operations.
- Ability to perform a variety of tasks, often shifting between different duties.
- Strong attention to detail.
- General understanding of mortgage and commercial loan documentation.
- Familiarity with real estate terminology and contracts.
- Knowledge of consumer lending laws.
- Effective communication skills for discussing job-related topics and complex issues.
- Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
- Ability to manage, coach, motivate, and develop a team.
- Exceptional customer service skills, including the ability to communicate complex information effectively.
- Commitment to protecting the confidentiality and integrity of the Association's systems and client data.
