Key Responsibilities:- Document Preparation: Drafting legal documents such as complaints, motions, consent agreements, and correspondence related to employment disputes.
- Filing and Submissions: Preparing and submitting legal documents to the Office of Administrative Hearings (OAH), or administrative agencies, in coordination with Board staff and the Assistant Attorneys General.
- Case Management: Organizing and managing case files, including maintaining and updating case documentation, gathering evidence, and preparing correspondence.
- Interaction with Board Staff: Providing updates on communications with defense counsel and nurses pending hearing or investigation, obtaining evidence and information for new investigations, and assisting with any inquiries or communication needs.
- Investigation & Document/Subpoena Support: Assisting in obtaining information and evidence, including through the use of subpoenas; tracking and following up on responses to subpoenas.
- OAH Preparation: Helping attorneys prepare for administrative hearings by organizing exhibits, creating trial binders, and coordinating witness arrangements.
- Compliance Monitoring: Ensuring that the Board of Nursing practices adhere to state and federal laws.
- Education: An associate degree in paralegal studies or a bachelor's degree with a paralegal certificate is required.
- Experience: A minimum of 2-3 years of experience as a paralegal, particularly in administrative law or litigation.
- Certification: Certification from a recognized paralegal association (e.g., NALA's Certified Paralegal or NFPA's Registered Paralegal) is preferred.
