Job Title: Sonographer, Adv Specialty

Orlando Health Arnold Palmer Hospital for Children is seeking a skilled Sonographer to join our team in the Echocardiography department. As a Sonographer, you will be responsible for performing diagnostic cardiology and vascular sonographic imaging and related procedures to demonstrate anatomy for interpretation and/or intervention.

Responsibilities:
  • Perform routine assignments using existing procedure guidelines.
  • Work closely with cardiologists to perform noninvasive and/or invasive cardiology and/or vascular diagnostic sonographic exams.
  • Exercise professional judgment in performance of services and maintain a demeanor complimentary to quality care.
  • Deliver appropriate care while recognizing patient conditions and ensuring successful completion of procedures.
  • Comply with all state and federal regulations applicable to each modality.
  • Assess the patient's physical condition and age-specific needs.
  • Provide instructions that achieve patient cooperation and desired results.
  • Perform proper patient identification, acquire patient's clinical history, and assure that the information is accurately documented.
  • Position patient, equipment, associated devices, and manipulate technical factors to achieve high-quality images for interpretation.
  • Assess diagnostic images for technical quality, proper annotation, and patient identification, ensuring that all relative anatomy is demonstrated.
  • Comprehend and comply with Quality Control standards and participate in all Quality Control tasks.
  • Administer medical aid as required for any emergency situation.
  • Apply appropriate standard precautions and personal protective equipment to prevent cross-contamination of contagious diseases.
  • Utilize all Orlando Health computer systems effectively and accurately.
  • Ensure safety of all customers.
  • Maintain accurate and precise documentation.
  • Communicate openly and effectively with all members of the healthcare team.
  • Participate in supervising student sonographers, orienting new sonographers, directing daily workflow, and participates in quality and safety initiatives.
  • Maintain reasonably regular, punctual attendance consistent with Orlando Health policies, the ADA, FMLA, and other federal, state, and local standards.
  • Maintain compliance with all Orlando Health policies and procedures.
Qualifications:
  • Graduate of an accredited school of sonography.
  • Depending on assigned department, meets education/training as required under established current American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers (ARDMS) and/or Cardiovascular Credentialing International (CCI) guidelines.
  • Maintains current BLS/HealthCare Provider certification.
  • Must maintain one of the following:
    • Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographer (RDMS) through the American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers (ARDMS) in fetal echocardiography;
    • Registered Diagnostic Cardiac Sonographer (RDCS) through the American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers (ARDMS);
    • Registered Cardiac Sonographer (RCS) or Advanced Cardiac Sonographer (ACS) or Registered Congenital Cardiac Sonographer (RCCS) through Cardiovascular Credentialing International (CCI); or
    • Registered Vascular Technologist (RVT) through the American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers (ARDMS); or
    • Registered Vascular Specialist (RVS) through Cardiovascular Credentialing International (CCI).
